All four designs are made of 999/1,000 fine gold, each weighing around 0.03 grams, or one-thousandth of an ounce, and bear the minting year 2025. They come from the festive Christmas series of Chad and Gabon. According to the manufacturer, they were minted by Valcambi, one of the most renowned mints in Switzerland. The two Gabon issues are limited worldwide to 50,000 pieces each.

Saint Nicholas was Bishop of Myra in the 4th century. According to legend, he secretly threw gold pieces through the window of a poor family so that the daughters could marry.
