Krugerrand 1/2 ounce gold 2025 with Privy Mark, springbok side with the sign

Beside the springbok, this Krugerrand bears a Privy Mark: a small additional sign added during striking. It shows a bust between the numerals 18 and 25: Paul Kruger was born in 1825.

Under the loupe

A small sign beside the springbok

On the springbok side, below the word KRUGERRAND and to the left of the springbok’s head, there is a small sign.

It shows a bust in profile, with a long beard and a jacket. To its left stand the numerals 18, to its right the numerals 25.

To the left and right of the springbok, split into two halves, stands the year the coin was struck: 2025.

The sign of this coin

Born on 10 October 1825

Paul Kruger was born on 10 October 1825 in the Cape Colony. From 1883 he was President of the South African Republic, the Transvaal.

He died on 14 July 1904 in Clarens, Switzerland.

The Krugerrand bears his name: Kruger and Rand, the currency of South Africa.

The term

What a Privy Mark is

A Privy Mark usually recalls a special occasion or an anniversary.

The name comes from the Old French privé. In the past, such marks served to tell apart coins from different periods or from different mint masters, and also as a safeguard against counterfeiting. Today mints place them mainly on commemorative and collector issues.

The name comes from the Old French privé. Today mints place them mainly on commemorative and collector issues.

In 2017, for the 50th anniversary, all collector issues of the Krugerrand bore a Privy Mark with a large 50. In 2024 the South African Mint released an issue whose mark shows the coining press “Oom Paul” and the year 1892, when the first coins were struck on it.

The same coin

A Krugerrand in every respect

The sign is added, the coin stays the same.

Like every gold Krugerrand, the coin is legal tender in South Africa, without a face value struck on it.

It is struck in proof: the field shines like a mirror, design and lettering stand matt on it. The mintage, that is the number of pieces struck, is 200. It comes in a case with a certificate of authenticity.

For the 200th birthday of its namesake Paul Kruger, the South African Mint presents this unique special edition, which is already being traded among connoisseurs as a future legend.

Historic Anniversary Meets Modern Minting Art

The fascination of this rarity lies not only in its vanishingly small mintage. The exclusive privy mark "1825" on the obverse honors Paul Kruger, the visionary statesman and President of the South African Republic from 1883 to 1902. His striking facial features with the characteristic full beard have adorned every Krugerrand coin since 1967 - but never before in this special anniversary edition.

On the reverse, the majestic springbok leaps towards you, South Africa's national animal in perfect execution. The Proof finish gives this elegant animal a vitality, as if it could leap out of the coin at any moment. Every detail, from the curved horns to the powerful hooves, has been immortalized with the utmost precision.

Investment Highlight with Explosive Value Appreciation Potential

While regular gold coins primarily serve wealth protection, this strictly limited special edition catapults your collection into a new dimension. Consider this: with a mintage of only 200 pieces and millions of Krugerrand collectors worldwide, a demand surplus arises that is unparalleled.

"Gold is humanity's oldest currency - and the Krugerrand is its most successful modern embodiment. This anniversary edition combines both into a timeless work of art."

Technical Perfection Down to the Smallest Detail

With a diameter of 27.07 mm and a fine weight of exactly 15.55 g of pure gold, this half ounce meets the proven Krugerrand specifications. The characteristic reddish-golden color results from the traditional alloy of 916.67/1,000 gold and a copper content that makes the coin more resistant - a trademark that collectors worldwide appreciate.

  1. Highest minting quality Proof guarantees mirror-smooth surfaces
  2. Each coin is delivered individually in an elegant case
  3. Numbered certificate of authenticity documents your investment
  4. Tax-free sale possible after a one-year holding period

Why This Coin Should Crown Your Collection

The combination of historical significance, minimal mintage, and perfect execution makes this collector's coin an absolute must-have. While ordinary bullion coins primarily serve as inflation hedge, this edition combines the best of both worlds: the intrinsic value of gold plus enormous value appreciation potential due to its rarity.

Experienced collectors know: anniversary editions with such low mintages often become the most sought-after pieces in a series. Just think of earlier special editions of the Krugerrand - today they are traded for multiples of their issue price. With only 200 pieces worldwide, this development is likely to be even more dramatic.

Secure Your Copy of This Century Edition

Gold has shone for thousands of years and will never lose its shine - this wisdom applies especially to this extraordinary anniversary coin. Proven as crisis protection, sought after as a collector's item, and equipped with investment potential, it embodies everything that discerning precious metals connoisseurs are looking for.

With this strictly limited special edition, the South African Mint has created a numismatic monument. Don't hesitate too long - with this minimal quantity, quick action is required. Because one thing is certain: once these 200 pieces are sold out, you will only find them on the secondary market - presumably at significantly higher prices by then.
