Beside the springbok, this Krugerrand bears a Privy Mark: a small additional sign added during striking. It shows a bust between the numerals 18 and 25: Paul Kruger was born in 1825.

Under the loupe

A small sign beside the springbok

On the springbok side, below the word KRUGERRAND and to the left of the springbok’s head, there is a small sign.

It shows a bust in profile, with a long beard and a jacket. To its left stand the numerals 18, to its right the numerals 25.

To the left and right of the springbok, split into two halves, stands the year the coin was struck: 2025.

The sign of this coin

Born on 10 October 1825

Paul Kruger was born on 10 October 1825 in the Cape Colony. From 1883 he was President of the South African Republic, the Transvaal.

He died on 14 July 1904 in Clarens, Switzerland.

The Krugerrand bears his name: Kruger and Rand, the currency of South Africa.

The term

What a Privy Mark is

A Privy Mark usually recalls a special occasion or an anniversary.

The name comes from the Old French privé. In the past, such marks served to tell apart coins from different periods or from different mint masters, and also as a safeguard against counterfeiting. Today mints place them mainly on commemorative and collector issues.

The name comes from the Old French privé. Today mints place them mainly on commemorative and collector issues.

In 2017, for the 50th anniversary, all collector issues of the Krugerrand bore a Privy Mark with a large 50. In 2024 the South African Mint released an issue whose mark shows the coining press “Oom Paul” and the year 1892, when the first coins were struck on it.

The same coin

A Krugerrand in every respect

The sign is added, the coin stays the same. For the silver ounce in proof, the South African Mint states 31.107 grams and 38.725 millimetres.

Its face value stands at the end of the legend: R1.

It is struck in proof: the field shines like a mirror, design and lettering stand matt on it. The mintage, that is the number of pieces struck, is 3,500. It comes in a case with a certificate of authenticity.

Why invest in this special edition right now?

The answer lies in the unique combination of several factors:

  1. Historical significance: 200 years of Paul Kruger - an anniversary celebrated only once
  2. Extreme rarity: With only 3,500 pieces worldwide, this coin is significantly rarer than regular Krugerrand issues
  3. Proven value stability: The Krugerrand has established itself as one of the most successful bullion coins since 1967
  4. Tax advantages: After a holding period of one year, profits from the sale are tax-free

Silver - The underrated precious metal with enormous potential

While many investors focus primarily on gold, silver often offers more exciting opportunities. Industrial demand is continuously rising - especially in future technologies such as solar panels, electric mobility, and medical technology. At the same time, silver reserves are limited. This discrepancy between rising demand and scarce supply creates an interesting field of tension for investors.

Particularly fascinating: compared to gold, silver is significantly more affordable, making it the perfect entry point into the world of precious metals. Nevertheless, it possesses all the characteristics that define a crisis-proof investment - it serves as an inflation hedge, is accepted worldwide, and retains its intrinsic value.

Perfect packaging for a perfect collector's item

Each coin is delivered in an elegant case that not only offers optimal protection but also fittingly underscores the presentation of this masterpiece. With a diameter of 38.74 mm and a fine weight of exactly one troy ounce (31.10 g), this special edition fits seamlessly into any Krugerrand collection.

Choosing this limited special edition is more than just an investment - it's the chance to own a piece of South African history. If you value exclusivity, if you understand the fascination of rare coins, and if you believe in the long-term potential of silver, then this Krugerrand was made for you. Don't wait too long - with such a low mintage, swift action is required!
