When the full moon rises over the Platz der Republik and the sandstone façade glows in warm light, Berlin reveals its most magical side. This exact moment is captured by the 1 oz Silver Berlin by Night – Reichstag Building 2026. A building that stands like no other for German history, captured in luminous colours and framed by golden shine. For lovers of capital city motifs, this edition counts among the most beautiful silver coins in the "Cities and Landscapes" series.
✔ A night panorama that glows
The obverse shows the Reichstag building head-on, just as it is experienced from the lawn of the Platz der Republik: the column-supported portico, the four massive corner towers, and above them the glass dome. On the towers flutter two German flags in black, red and gold. The façade glows golden yellow, lanterns line the path. And the sky? A firework of glowing red clouds, above them deep night blue, a bright full moon and the violet-shimmering band of the Milky Way. The inscription "1 OZ 9999 FINE SILVER 2026" runs around the edge.
The reverse shifts the perspective. Here the dome comes right up close – you can make out the steel ribs, the glass and the spiral ramps inside, which appear like threads of gold in the light. Glass balustrades are reflected on the roof terrace, and to the left one of the historic corner towers rises into the evening sky. On the right edge reads "20 DOLLARS", below is the coat of arms of Liberia.
✔ A landmark with an eventful history
The Reichstag was built between 1884 and 1894 to designs by architect Paul Wallot, in the Neo-Renaissance style and as the parliamentary building of the German Empire. The famous gable inscription "Dem Deutschen Volke" ("To the German People") was not added until 1916. On 9 November 1918, Philipp Scheidemann proclaimed the Republic from one of the building's windows. Fire, war and reconstruction left deep marks – until the British architect Sir Norman Foster fundamentally redesigned the building after reunification.
Since April 1999, the German Bundestag has met in the Reichstag building – and its accessible glass dome has become a symbol of transparency and democracy.
The dome measures around 40 metres in diameter. Inside, a funnel-shaped cone with 360 mirrors directs daylight into the plenary chamber, while two opposing ramps lead visitors up to the observation platform. It is precisely this combination of imperial-era architecture and modern glass construction that makes the design so appealing.
✔ The finishing – colour, gold and precision
What sets this edition apart from an ordinary silver coin is its elaborate post-processing. Both sides feature brilliant colour application, which makes even fine details such as rows of windows, stars and light reflections visible. The partially gilded outer ring encloses the image like a noble frame, while the reeded edge provides a pleasant feel. This work is carried out in Germany with great care and craftsmanlike precision. The manufacturer's designation refers to the coin itself, not to the finishing.

✔ Coin instead of medal – the subtle difference
Berlin motifs are plentiful on the market: as a silver medal, as a silver bar featuring the Brandenburg Gate, or as a commemorative coin with a high mintage. Here, two things make the difference. First, this piece carries an official face value and is therefore a genuine coin, not a medal. Second, it combines colourful design, partial gilding and an ultra-small mintage in a single object. Classic bullion coins are often issued in the millions and score points with the smallest possible premium over the material value. Anyone looking for something special, however, will find here a collector's item with real character. One final tip: leave the coin in its capsule, so that colour and shine remain permanently protected.
✔ Silver – the ideal carrier metal for collectors
With a fineness of 999.9/1,000, this piece ranks among the purest coins of all. The white precious metal has accompanied mankind for thousands of years as a monetary metal and symbol of prosperity – and brings with it qualities that collectors also appreciate:
- Profits from the sale of physical silver are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year.
- Silver is durable and retains its physical properties across generations.
- Electronics, solar and medical technology ensure continuous industrial demand.
- Supply is limited, the raw material is traded worldwide and is highly liquid.
- Compared to gold, silver remains affordable – ideal for building up your own collection.
Incidentally, physical precious metal has always embodied inflation hedge and crisis protection. With this edition, however, the focus is clearly on collector's value.
✔ Potential for value appreciation through strict limitation
A mintage of only 100 pieces is remarkably low, even among finished collector's coins. This consistent limitation makes every single piece a genuine rarity – and anyone who secures one joins a very small circle of owners. A specific promise of returns is not legally permissible. Experience shows, however, that strictly limited editions with a strong design tend to be particularly sought after over the years.
